1882-CC Morgan Dollar

The 1882-CC Morgan Dollar was one of three Carson City mint issues that made up the majority of the GSA Morgan Dollars distributed during the 1970’s. This hoard represented the remaining coins from the Treasury hoard after the payout of silver dollars was stopped years earlier.

The GSA hoard contained 605,029 of the 1882-CC Morgan Dollars, representing an incredible 53.4% of the original mintage of 1,133,000 coins. As a result, these coins are easily attainable for today’s collectors and can often be found in the GSA issue holders. Proof like and deep mirror proof like pieces are also relatively frequently encountered.

The high survival rate for this issue is not to discount the appeal of Carson City Morgan Dollars, which are pursued by many collectors.
