1890 Morgan Dollar

The 1890 Morgan Dollar was minted in quantity at the Philadelphia Mint with 16,802,000 coins struck. This would remain the highest mintage for a Morgan Dollar until the final year of the large mintages of the final year of the series in 1921. Examples of the 1890 Morgan Dollar are readily encountered through uncirculated grades, although examples graded gem and higher become more difficult.

The Philadelphia Mint struck 590 proof coins this year. This is the lower annual proof mintage for the Morgan Dollars series.
