1896 Morgan Dollar

The 1896 Morgan Dollar represents one of the more available issues of the series with price remaining affordable through gem grades. The Philadelphia Mint struck 9,976,000 coins for circulation, with many released in later years, providing a supply of higher grade examples. This was a change of pace from the several recent years of lower mintages for silver dollars at the Philadelphia Mint, culminating with the proof only issue of 1895.

The Philadelphia Mint struck 762 of the 1896 Morgan Silver Dollars in proof format. Many of these will exhibit wonderful deep cameo contrast.
