The 1889 Morgan Dollar (Buy on eBay) would have the highest mintage for any issue of the series until the vast numbers minted in the final year of the series surpassed the record. Despite the high mintage of 21,726,000, at one time mint state examples were considered scarce due to large scale melting. Plentiful supplies of coins would later emerge in the Treasury releases of the 1950’s and 1960’s, making gem examples common.
