The major grading services PCGS and NGC have certified about 700 pieces in gem MS65 grade. These coins can usually be purchased for under $2,000, although selection for sharpness of strike, quality of luster, and eye appeal is recommended.
The finest known examples are just three pieces graded MS67. This includes one example graded by PCGS as MS67 with the Proof-Like designation. This coin sold for $48,875 at auction held in January 2009.
