The production of silver dollars had resumed after a gap of sixteen years. The 1921-S Morgan Dollar (Buy on eBay) had a mintage of 21,695,000. Together with the coins produced at other mint facilities, there were more than 85 million Morgan Silver Dollars produced during the year.
Although not recognized until later, the 1921 San Francisco issue is less frequently encountered than the Philadelphia and Denver Mint issues. Finding a high grade example that is fully struck with good luster can be a challenge. Many higher grade examples will have shallow details on Liberty’s hair and the reverse.
